The Year to Elevate

What if you gave yourself a year and held nothing back?

What if you stopped envisioning the person you wanted to be and just started acting as that person. Pushed your fears aside and went after every dream, vision and goal.

What would that look like? What would it feel like?

And importantly....what is stopping you?

This is my elevate year.

I turned 25 last month and one word was on my mind: elevate. I want to step into my power this year more than ever before. To be fearless, genuine, and live up to my full potentional. This means not holding back and not falling into habits that waste my time and drain my energy.

I set the foundation for this in the past year. In my 24th year, I was intentional, disciplined, and got to know myself and love myself deeper. I know who I am and my potential - now I need to act on it. It's time to stop envisioning and start embodying.

Here are a couple ways I’ll be elevating this year

  • Setting aside 1 hour a day to work on my personal brand (this might mean no scrolling on TikTok and getting to bed on time to give myself this hour)

  • Read at least one book a month

  • Stick to a Bible reading and devotional plan

  • Create a plan to get the projects and research I am working on done within a reasonable timeframe

  • Network. Network. Network.

  • Apply to every opportunity, scholarship, and program - don’t tell myself no

  • Take my fitness to the next level by creating workout plans and fueling my body

  • Think about the wildest and highest level dreams I have - and then dream even further and chase that dream instead

I invite you to elevate with me this year. Join me on my substack - it is a platform for writers and last month I sarted my new publication "Elevate with Kye". Here on my blog, this is as a very polished and planned version of my writing. But sometimes I want to share a new workout routine I am trying, or my current favorite books, or share an experience I had in medical school and what I learned from it. This content doesn’t fill an entire blog post on my website - so it ends up in my notes app or as a draft post….unpublished.

Now on Substack, I can share my thoughts and advice on wellness, style and medical school and create a community where we can all elevate together. So if you want quick reads such as my book of the month, meal preps of the week, or a wellness tip - subscribe to my substack. It's a dope app to connect with different publications and blogs of your interests.

One of the first series I started on there is "Dear Miss Overachieving Black Girl."

Dear Miss Overachieving Black Girl is your reminder that you are enough. This newsletter offers short, powerful advice on embracing your greatness and challenging your inner critic. Whether you're navigating the weight of expectations or simply need a reminder to love yourself more deeply, each edition speaks to the unique experiences of ambitious Black women, helping you find balance, self-compassion, and joy in the journey - written by an overachieving and self-critical Black girl herself.

The first two posts are out now and more will be on the way - I really hope that each time I publish it can be something that someone just needed to hear that day when it hits their inbox.

Don't worry - I will still be publishing here on stylebykye.com - I have some posts in the drafts that will be published soon! I actually believe that writing more on my substack will help me write more here on the blog as well by getting the writer's block and perfectionism gone - I have had so many essay ideas and blog posts in the past year that have remained in my drafts. This year it is time to just embrace my ideas and hit publish.

I'm excited for this next year, for this new publication, for my new blogs, and for falling back in love with writing.

Let me know how you plan to elevate this year in the comments!

xoxo,

Kye
